book review soar! a refreshing read

Some books touch your soul in the most unexpected manner. An awesome page turner & the USP of this particular book is it’s realistic. This actually happens & this book definitely gives an awesome lesson for life.

Uday plays a business trick to triumph over that uninfluenced market; it works initially, but soon boomerangs, blowing the team apart. The police arrests Uday accusing him of illegal activity by his organization. Were there any blemishes in their plan or was it just a typical Indian market, reluctant to accept an un-experimented and innovative concept? Will they be successful in implementing their innovation, staking their hard earned money, stable jobs, relationships, and life 'S.O.A.R is the story of chasing a dream, quandary between desire and responsibility, friendship and love. Join the gutsy journey of three young entrepreneurs.
HIGHLIGHTS
ü  Sometimes I need to walk away, not to make you realize how worthy I am, but for me to understand & acknowledge my self-worth. Very true lines sometimes you need to stop the other person from taking you for granted. It’s sad but this is evident these days in almost all the relationships.
ü  Once you are successful never forget or leave those friends / family who were there with you when you were nothing. Coz at the end of the day these people are those who stood by you who needed you the most. I am gonna call my bestie after completing this review. J
ü  Sometimes it’s okay to take a break. Take a vacation spend time with your loved ones. It’s okay to enjoy the rains; at times having chai at a roadside dhaba with your loved ones is just what you need. J
ü  Take risks in life. No pain no gain. As my boss says “swarg paane ke liye marna to padega hi” very rightly said.
ü  This book is a refreshing read, an awesome page turner.
ü  The author has a very simple style of writing.
The only glitch was that I wanted to read more about the love story of Srishti & Adhyayan.

EXCERPT:

I swung back and forth for a while, letting the breeze settle my nerves. I don’t know how long I was out there for, but eventually, I heard a car pull up. The door shut and footsteps thumped up the stairs.

“Hello,” a masculine voice drifted towards me.

I opened my eyes and was greeted with crystal blue eyes, messy brown hair, a lopsided smirk and six feet of tall, lean man.

“Er…um…hi,” I croaked out. Okay…the man was gorgeous. Pretty sure I was blushing.

“Haley?” gorgeous mystery man asked.

I nodded. I didn’t know who this guy was, but he seemed to know me. And if I opened my mouth to ask him, I’m sure I would sound like an idiot again.

He gave me that adorable lopsided grin again. “Eli.” He pointed at himself, like I should know who he was. Eli was leaning against the porch railing, staring at me with amusement in his eyes. Maybe if he wasn’t so damn attractive I could get my brain to start working again. But for now, I could only stare.

“You don’t remember me, do you?” he asked. “The four of us hung out together when I roomed with Noah in the dorms.”

Holy shit. This man in front of me couldn’t be Noah’s roommate. There was no possible way he was the same guy. I hung out with the kid all the time, and this guy…no, not him. Not him at all.

“You look nothing like you did freshman year.” I blurted out. Then quickly turned red and clamped my hand over my mouth.

Oh God, he’s going to think you are the biggest idiot.

Eli laughed. “I was a lot scrawnier back then. Had longer hair. Wore thick framed glasses all the time.” His voice still sounded the same. That was something at least. “When I moved back home to help my mom, I worked with my uncle at his construction company. I guess that helped me gain a little muscle.” He shrugged like he was not confident with how he looked.

The more I stared at him, the more he was becoming familiar. Freshman year, he was this quiet, slightly nerdy kid. He always wore comic book t-shirts. He had spent most of his time on his computer or playing video games with Noah. Kyler had kept telling me that he had a crush on me, and she even begged me to go out with him a few times, but I always came up with reasons I couldn’t. Mostly those excuses dealt with my crush at that time—Drew. Blah. I was so not going to think about that douche when Eli was standing in front of me.

I mean, I enjoyed hanging out with him as a friend, but dating? He was definitely not what I thought my type was. Though, what I thought my type was turned out to be a bunch of jerks, so maybe I should have given the nice guy a chance.

“You okay?” he asked gently, pushing off the railing and taking a seat next to me on the swing. “You seem lost in thought.”

I shrugged, not knowing what to say.

“You don’t remember me, do you?”

“Oh no, I do.”

Maggie Adams' Love, Marriage, Mayhem Blog Tour

Love, Marriage, Mayhem
Book 4 in the Tempered Steel Series
by Maggie Adams,
Genre: Romance
Release Date: November 30th

With only a small clue to the whereabouts of the arsonist that torched his family's business, Lawrence “Lucky” Coalson heads to Las Vegas. While posing as a bouncer, Lucky finds himself ensnared by the lovely bartender, Claudia. But, like Lucky, she’s not what she appears to be and what happens in Vegas follows Lucky back home with unimaginable consequences.

Brandon Coalson is as hot as his older brothers, but he's the sensitive one that patches broken hearts and sends them on their way. Until Anna Meeks walks into the office and into his life. Her shy demeanor melts Brandon's heart, but she's got secrets that could get them killed. When a family friend is grievious injured, the men vow to put an end to the sabotage once and for all, but nothing goes according to plan, and the men must fight Mother Nature, a murderer, and the local law enforcement to get the answers they seek.

His face came closer and she closed her eyes, but popped them open when he simply touched her nose with his, rubbing it lightly. “Open those beautiful eyes, Anna. I want to see your passion.” Anna stopped breathing as Brandon tilted her head slightly, and touched just the tip of his tongue to her lips, licking just the corner, then drawing back. She caught fire at the first touch of his lips on her skin. Naturally shy, she had nevertheless had her share of kisses, but this was entirely different from anything she had experienced before. Tender pecks on the eyelids, the chin, a teasing bite along the throat and collarbone, Anna’s breath hitched. Then he gave a little lick to the ‘oh so sensitive’ spot at the curve of her neck. She gasped, as he captured the sound with his mouth, then went in for the kill...open mouth, tongue licking her lips, demanding entrance as he succeeded in devouring her mouth just as he had been dreaming of doing for so long. One sweet, succulent, tongue entwined, dream of a kiss. When they were both breathless, he tenderly pulled at her lower lip with his lips and planted one last gentle kiss on the curve of her neck. Although it was a gentle kiss, the underlying hunger could not be denied, and Anna didn’t want to deny him anymore. She craved his touch like flowers crave the rain. But now was neither the time nor the place to indulge in these fantasies. She drew back reluctantly. “You make me forget myself,” she blushed and lowered her eyes. “You make me hot,” Brandon whispered seductively.

Excerpt

Marissa didn’t follow me. It was most likely she had pieced together our story after Blake’s song. How could she not? It was as if he had weaved our entire relationship into his lyrics. I could feel his sixteen-year-old self singing every line to my sixteen-year-old self. Although, I was pretty certain the sixteen-year-old Blake I’d known then had no clue how to play the guitar.

After washing the tearstains from my face, I brushed my teeth. It was still early, but I couldn’t face going back out there, so I changed into my shorts and tank top and climbed into bed. Sleep would be impossible, but at least here, I was safe.

Most people felt lonely in solitude, but I welcomed the silence. I embraced it even. Something about the quiet, the knowledge no one else was around, comforted me. I knew it made me different. I didn’t need a shrink to tell me that, but it didn’t change the fact that I found sanctuary in being alone.

I lay there not really allowing myself to think. Thinking was dangerous; it led to remembering, and my memories were stained with pain and hurt and the kinds of things that made most people’s nightmares look like a walk in the park. Instead, I tracked the uneven cabin ceiling. My eyes followed the planes of the wood from one end to the other and back again until they grew heavy.

A knock on the door startled me sending my already restless heart into overdrive and I rubbed at my eyes.

“Hello?” I called out hoping to hear Marissa’s voice, but I knew it wasn’t her. She wouldn’t have knocked; she would have barged right in and demanded answers.

“Penny, it’s me.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, but my mind betrayed me as an image of Blake’s face filled my head.

Another knock.

“Penny.”

Forcing myself to sit up, I swung my legs over the edge of the bed. He wasn’t going away. Blake—our connection—was something I was going to have to deal with sooner or later, and from Blake’s admissions over the last few days, it seemed that he was making the decision for me.

My legs were like lead as I walked to the door. It swung open and Blake stood there looking at me with such reverence in his eyes I almost crumpled. Maybe I did crumple because, before my head had time to process what was happening, I was in Blake’s arms, and he was holding on to me like he needed me to breathe.

“I’ve missed you so much. I’ve tried to stay away, to give you space, but I can’t. I can’t spend another day feeling like you might slip through my fingers again.”

One of Blake’s hands buried itself in my hair and cradled my head holding me to him. My face pressed up against the collar of his hoodie, and I breathed him in. He smelled familiar, like damp grass and fresh air, of a time when things were less complicated, and my heart ached for us. At that moment, we weren’t two strangers reunited by chance; we were sixteen-year-old Blake and Penny.

And we needed each other to survive.

Excerpt:

They got their food and sat at one of the dining room tables in the corner. Moira pretended not to notice a couple of raised eyebrows from the other patients. “How long have you been able to see them?” “Who?” “Your ghosts.” “For a while,” Moira replied vaguely. Adam picked up his dinner roll and took a large bite. “My guess is longer than just ‘a while.’” Moira’s attention was captured again by his green eye, so sharply contrasting his brown one. He was almost too intense to look at. Almost. “How did you get the scratches?” His gaze settled on her cheek. “One of the other patients started a fight,” she said, covering her cheek with her hand. “I guess she doesn’t like me.” “What’s not to like? You seem okay to me.” Oddly, his statement made her stomach do a flip-flop. “Thanks.” “You know how some people are, quick to judge.” He dropped his fork and bent to retrieve it. Moira pictured herself reaching over and brushing back the lock of dark hair that fell across his forehead. She glanced nervously over her shoulder. Jack and Isabella were strangely silent. Isabella was probably just trying to figure out what childish thing she could say, but Jack…she knew that Jack was sizing Adam up; he did it with every man she came into contact with. And she knew he wouldn’t appreciate her noticing how handsome Adam was either. “I’m sure they upped her meds,” Adam said as he tossed the fork onto the table again. “This place sucks. It won’t do a damn thing but make you spill your guts, drive you crazy or turn you into a zombie. Last pills they sent me home with made me feel like my skull was being split with a meat cleaver.” “So you stopped taking them?” “Yep.” “How did you end up back here?” “My brother called the cops. Lying asshole, I should be used to it by now,” Adam muttered. “I was staying with him until I got my shit together, but he walked in on me as I was flushing my pill down the toilet and freaked out.” A look of distress crossed his face. “Whatever, I’ll be out soon enough.” He finished his roll and started on an apple. “What did your doctor put you on? Who is your doctor anyways?” “Um, he hasn’t put me on anything yet. I see Dr. Cassano.” “Ahh, Dr. Cassano.” He raised an eyebrow. “I hear the nurses talking about him all the time.” “He’s nice enough.” “I see Dr. Leo. He’s an asshole.” He spit out the bite of his apple and without getting up, tossed the rest of it into the garbage, basketball style. “Have you spoken to your ghosts about leaving?” “I’ve …tried.” “They won’t?” “No.” “You want me to ask them for you?” “Seriously?” She stayed an initial surge of hopefulness and reminded herself that Adam was in here because he was crazy. Not like her at all. “I can try.” He settled back and stared right at Isabella. That’s a fluke, she thought. He just picked an empty spot next to me. “You need to go,” Adam said simply. “Moira doesn’t want you around her.” He waited a beat. “Wow, she’s hostel. Kids can be such brats. I’ll try your other one.” He looked right at where Jack stood. The other empty spot next to me, she reminded herself. “Leave. Your time is done, tall guy. You have no business being here anymore.” She felt Jack’s presence crackle with anger. “He’s even more hostel than she is,” Adam said. “Sucks for you.” Moira felt her hopes deflate. Well, it’s not as if he can really see them, she thought. “Thanks anyways.” He aimed his plastic cup towards the trash and tossed it. It missed and rolled towards the kitchen door. “Damn. No points for me.” The cook leaned out the kitchen door and waved his ladle at them. “Stop tossing your garbage everywhere, you’re getting milk on the floor. Somebody’s got to mop that up.” “I hate that a culinary genius like you has to do that,” Adam called back with a straight face. “Smart ass,” the cook replied. “You lucky I don’t spit in your food.” Adam held his hands up in mock surrender. “I know you say that with love, Nathan.” He picked up his tray. “See you around.” Moira watched him swagger away. It suddenly dawned on her that she hadn’t mentioned Isabella was a child or said anything about Jack. Lucky guess.
