Excerpt

Feeling a stich in my side, I slowed to a stop and unzipped my jacket. With my hands on my hips, I took several deep breaths, embracing the sharp burn in my lungs. I loved this time of year, when the snow was at its last days. I enjoyed the cold white sheets of ice, because I knew that they would be gone in no time. Just like everything else.

“Hey, girl!” An SUV full of guys pulled up beside me, the one in the passenger’s seat sticking his head out the window. “What’s your name?” he asked, looking me up and down.

Ignoring him, I turned on my heel and kept walking. But the SUV stayed at my side, slowly skimming the edge of the sidewalk. Warmth flooded my body, along with a mix of fear and unease.

“Hey!” the driver shouted, leaning over the console. “We’re talking to you! Come here!”

They must have been students, like me and Sara. The neighborhood wasn’t far from campus and we knew a handful of people at school who had rented houses here before, out of a dislike for dorms and apartments. If these guys went to UW, I hoped that today would be our first and last encounter.

“Maybe she needs to warm up,” the passenger suggested. “Here, Ice Queen! Have some coffee.” He threw a Starbucks cup out the window at me, despite the fact that the container wasn’t empty.

As I braced myself, steaming hot coffee burst through the lid and splattered all over me. I staggered back and collided with another runner, as we both fell to the ground.

“Yes!” the guys in the SUV cheered. They took off, speeding through the neighborhood, as the passenger stuck his head out the window and rejoiced in celebration.

“Jerks,” the stranger beside me muttered.

Sitting back on my elbow, I looked over at the one thing I hated the most in this world right now. The one thing that had to be here at this moment. A Guy.

“Let me help you up,” he offered, extending his hand for me to take. When we were both on our feet again, he looked at me and smiled. It was the best smile I had ever seen.

Dressed in jogging pants and a sweatshirt, he was the embodiment of everything I had been searching for and now sworn off for good. Tall. Lean. Attractive. His short, curly hair was the darkest shade of brunette, yet not quite black. His eyes were soft and light, his irises somewhere in between blue and gray. My mouth watered at the sight of his chiseled cheekbones, strong jawline, and the slight stubble on his face.

He was my dream guy, but I had given up on dreaming a long time ago. So I did what I had to do. I ran.

“Hey, wait,” he pleaded, grabbing my arm. “Are you okay? I’m sorry about those guys. Don’t worry about them. They’re just jerks.”

I nodded, then looked down at the coffee stains on my clothes. These would be fun to get out, especially since our washing machine was a gadget sent straight from hell.

“I’m fine,” I said. “Thanks.”

With my head down, I stepped back and walked away from him.

Book Review: J (Jack, Jennifer & Jaisalmer) by Lokesh Gulyani

Meeting someone unknown cannot be termed as sheer coincidence. A larger truth lay beneath Jack’s ill timed visit to Jaisalmer, meeting Jennifer and encounter with Allen wasn’t a mere coincidence.

Something was not right with Jennifer and Jack was unaware of the fact but Allen knew it all. And then she went missing in the deserts of Jaisalmer. Will Jack be able to find her?

Will the secret of Jennifer ever be out? To know more read this spine chilling thriller ‘J’ in which love conquers all.

BOOK REVIEW :- I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a thriller based  novel.
The story revolved around the protagonist Jack
Jennifer was the Project Advisor at Pro-Winds ,who had hired Wendell and Right Brothers, the company in which Jack works, for offering consultancy services for their wind mill project based at Jaisalmer.Jennifer is an Australian working on a project at Jaisalmer.
Jodhpur is another rustic town in the princely state of Rajasthan , which is abundant with many tales of royalty of the Rajput kings.

Jack had travelled and came to Jodhpur far away from UK and in the melee also annoyed Priscilla ( his gf  ) with this decision to come to India just for this Project.

But  Jennifer disappears one day, will they ever be able to find Jennifer?

Although the story builds up in a slower pace and with complexities that kept me pretty much hooked into the story line. There were twists & turns in the story.
This book is so creepy , blowing my mind away with this amazing piece of work.
This book kind of confused me considering how the characters are trying to push each other.

A must book for Indian Bookworms  :-)
I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

“Sure, I was already planning on changing a few things around here. For starters I would like to add more guards from different colonies as long as ya’ll don’t oppose,” I said.

I scanned the room for any type of disagreement. Ethan was twirling his hair around his finger, Konrad was digging in his nose, and Liam was staring back at me.

“Alright, so just let me know who you think should ser—” A sneeze stopped me midsentence.

Fuck, I peed again. Wait …. No … not pee.

No one said anything or seemed to notice but I could feel the liquid gushing out and no amount of Kegels or anything else was stopping it.

I motioned for Palo to come closer so I could make a discrete exit and officially check on things. Thadius invited himself over, and stooped down beside me.

“I think my water just broke,” I whispered.

“What!” shouted Thadius.

“What is it? What’s wrong,” said Liam, taking several steps closer.

“Everything’s fi—”

“Alexis’ water broke!” yelled Thadius.

So much for being discrete.

Everyone rushed to my side with the exception of Konrad who was desperately attempting to fish out whatever was lodged in his nasal cavity.

“Girl, I just had that chair reupholstered,” said Ethan. “Get ‘cha ass up so we can get this baby out of you.”

“Call the humans!” yelled Liam, pacing the room.

“No,” I hissed. “I don’t need the humans.” I turned to Palo and breathed through a contraction. “Call Rachel.”

He nodded and ran off in the opposite direction as everyone else closed in on me.

“If it dies, can I eat it?” asked Konrad leaning forward in his seat.

My eyes flashed yellow as our glares fell on him.

“What?” he asked. “It’s goblin custom.”

Ethan shook his head in disgust as I motioned for my other guards. “Get him the fuck out of here,” I growled. “In fact, everybody leave with the exception of Thadius and Ethan, I need ya’ll to help me to my room.

We shuffled down the hall pausing long enough for the freight train disguised as a contraction continued to slam into me over and over again.

Thadius took the initiative to go ahead and pick me up and carry me the rest of the way. Wasting no time, he kicked my bedroom door open and gently placed me in the middle of the bed.

Ethan shook his head again. “Those sheets cost a fortune,” he muttered.

“Really, Ethan!” I shrieked. “Make yourself useful or get out!”

He rolled his eyes and snatched off my leggings. “Let’s just see what’s going on down here.”

His head disappeared for a moment and I immediately felt the urge to push.

“Oh hell na’ll, girl whatever you are doing, STOP. Something is peeking out,” he said, and his ghostly face paled to a nearly transparent hue. “You know what, I’m going to go see what’s going on with your midwife wolf lady.”

I looked over at Thadius and attempted to smile to lighten the mood. The panicked looked on his face made me wonder if he needed more medical attention than I did.

This Is Awkward

How Life's Uncomfortable Moments Open the Door to Intimacy and Connection

By Sammy Rhodes

 Introduction

One of the saddest realities of life is that the things we need to talk about the most, we tend to talk about the least—from bouts with depression to sexual struggles to parent-wounds that never seem to heal. Raise these issues out loud, and wait for the awkward silence. But those awkward moments are precisely where we find connection with God and one another.

In This is Awkward, Sammy Rhodes talks directly, honestly, and hilariously (because sometimes we need to laugh) about the most painfully uncomfortable subjects in our lives. In chapters like “Parents Are a Gift (You Can’t Return Them)” and “D is for Depression,” he boldly goes where most of us fear to tread, revealing that we can be liberated by the embrace of a God who knows the most shameful things about us and loves us all the same. Because nothing is too awkward for God.

Review:

After reading I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris I never thought I would encounter another book by a Pastor/Minister of Christian faith so early on.

I must admit, This is Awkward felt like going on a BLOG binge and each journal-like entry start not only keeps the book from becoming too preachy but is also a unique way of starting off a topic in a informal way which a reader of any faith can relate to.

Laced with hilarious anecdotes; quotes from various writers; moments from various movies and insights from The Bible, Songs of Solomon, Nahum etc., Sammy Rhodes takes you on a unique journey through various incidents in his life as he discusses topics like Lust, crying at Starbucks, Pornography, the Art of delaying writing, Addiction, Parental issues, Social media, Dating, Marriage which are directly related to our awkwardness, vulnerability, growth, and intimacy related issues.

The self-deprecating humor sometimes doesn't work out as well as expected but all in all the writer goes on to do one HELL of a good job to make the points he wish to make on various topics.

I don't believe in Jesus.

But that didn't stop me from reading this book as I agreed/disagreed with what the writer had to say.

You can read this book from cover to cover or you can jump to any chapter you want and it would still come good.

Ratings:

Overall it is a good book worth a read or two.

3 out 5 Cross.

RELEASE BLITZ - Undone Volume 3 by Callie Harper

Title: Undone Volume 3
Series: Beg for It
Author: Callie Harper
Genre: Hot Contemporary/New Adult Romance
Release Date: March 28, 2016

Blurb

It’s on, the storm of the century, trapping Ana and Ash up in a mountain cabin. The snowplows don’t need to worry about their road. They melt the snow all on their own. But after the storm ends, can this “fake” romance survive reality, the harshest test of all?

Ash

The world already hates me for being a player. Now I’m a kidnapper, too.
I drove off with Ana while she was drunk as a skunk after a New Year’s party in Vegas. She didn’t exactly say she wanted to go away with me. In fact, when we last spoke she seemed pretty interested in quitting me. Then she passed out.
But that’s exactly why I need to get her away from it all, the celebrities and parties and cameras always flashing at us from all angles. I need to get her up into the mountains where I have a private cabin. Very private.
It’s just my dumb luck that we got snowed in. For days.
You remember show and tell in school? I’m not so good at the tell. But the show? That’s all me.
Now I have Ana all to myself, shielded from prying eyes, in our own private world. I can show her pleasure she’s never known before. She can let go of all of her inhibitions. No one will ever know.
I have days on end to show Ana exactly what she means to me, how I feel about her, and I won’t stop until she believes me. Or she’s melted into a puddle of orgasms. Or both. I’m starting to like the sound of both.

Ana

New Year’s Day I woke up in a mountain cabin with Ash Black, nothing but the sound of the wind and snow falling thick all around us. There’s nothing I’ve been more afraid of than this. Just us, no distractions, no paparazzi, no interfering agents or crazed fans. All that noise made it easier to hide from the feelings building up inside of me. I’m terrified of the way he makes me feel, the way I’m falling for him so hard.
But now he has me alone, snowed in, at his amazing mountain cabin. He’s all muscle and sex. His voice alone makes me wet. One touch sends me reeling, and he seems to sense and want to unlock all of my most secret fantasies, the ones I haven’t even admitted to myself I want.
This romance is fake. I keep telling myself that. I can’t really trust him. This is all pretend.
But then he pulls me close, presses a hand to the small of my back, kisses my throat and whispers low and wicked in my ear, “Let yourself go.” How am I supposed to say no to that?

NOTE: Undone is a three-volume hot adult romance. It’s the second story in the Beg for It series about the dominant, alpha males in Ash’s family and the strong, sexy women who make them finally meet their match.
